I don’t really know the story behind this photo, but I watched the interaction from the upper deck.
For non-Nationals fans, sometime during Nats games (4th inning?) they play “God Bless the U.S.A.”, everyone in the stadium stands up and takes off their hats, and the jumbotron shows the handicap accessible area behind home plate (the most expensive club seats in the park) which is full of Veterans and their families. (And usually, I cry a little.)
Anyway at some point during this game I looked to that sections and saw the photographer in the purple-ish shirt talking to the guy in the wheelchair, who I assume is a vet. He handed him his camera and had him snap some photos of his own. Then the vet handed him his camera back and the shook hands. I have no idea if my interpretation of the events was correct or either of their actual stories, but I hope I’m right and I’d LOVE to see the photos the vet took!
